AI readiness assessment: is your business ready for AI agents?

Eight questions on strategy, data, systems, people, governance and measurement. It takes about three minutes and you don't need to give an email. You'll get an instant readiness level, a profile across six areas, and the two gaps to fix first.

Question 1 of 8
Your AI readiness

Your two weakest areas

AI is only as ready as its weakest foundation. Fix these two first and the rest gets easier.

Want help moving up a level?

We design, build and run AI agents for consumer brands, connected to your real data and with human approval built in. For Facetheory, a UK skincare brand, that meant agents for weekly channel reporting, customer-service triage and the creator-gifting pipeline: around five hours a week back for the team.

The four levels of AI readiness.

1Exploring

AI is talked about, but not used in the work. No agreed use cases, owner or rules yet.

2Experimenting

People are trying tools and some of it helps. It's scattered, unowned and unmeasured.

3Ready to scale

Valued use cases, usable data and connected systems. Ready to move from tools to AI agents.

4Embedded

AI runs real workflows, with humans approving what matters and the payback measured.

AI readiness checklist

What the AI readiness assessment checks.

Six areas decide whether AI pays back or stalls after the first trial. Use them as a checklist. You don't need all six in place to start, just the ones your first use case depends on. If you want help building that first use case, see how we work on AI agents.

1Strategy & use cases

Good looks like: a short, ranked list of use cases, each tied to a number in the P&L, such as hours saved, cost per order or revenue. One person owns AI and can say yes or no.

2Data

Good looks like: customer, order and product data you can get at without manual exports. Everyone agrees where the source of truth lives, and someone owns its quality.

3Systems & integration

Good looks like: the tools you run on, such as Shopify, your CRM, helpdesk or booking platform, have APIs or integrations, and connecting a new tool is routine rather than a project.

4People & skills

Good looks like: most of the team use AI each week, shared prompts and examples are easy to find, and a few people can build and test simple automations themselves.

5Process & governance

Good looks like: clear rules on what AI can do alone, what it drafts for a person to approve, and what it never touches. A written AI policy covers approved tools and what data can go into them.

6Measurement

Good looks like: every use case has a baseline and a target, in hours saved, response times or revenue, and is reviewed after a few weeks to decide whether to scale it, fix it or stop it.

Frequently asked

AI readiness — questions.

What is an AI readiness assessment?

An AI readiness assessment checks whether a business has what it needs to use AI well: clear use cases with value attached, usable data, systems that can connect, a team that can work with it, rules that keep it safe, and a way to measure the payback. It shows where you stand today and what to fix first, before you spend money on tools.

What makes a business AI-ready?

Six things. A short list of use cases tied to a number in the P&L. Clean, accessible customer and commerce data. Systems that can connect, such as Shopify, your CRM and your helpdesk. A team that is confident using AI. Guardrails, including human approval for anything customer-facing. And a baseline, so you can measure hours saved or revenue gained. They don't all need to be perfect to start. The ones your first use case depends on do.

What's the difference between AI readiness and AI maturity?

AI readiness is about foundations: whether you are in a position to start or scale AI. AI maturity is about how far AI is already part of how you work. They overlap, and this assessment covers both. The first two levels are mostly about readiness; the top two are about maturity. If you are early, focus on readiness. If you already run AI tools, the maturity end matters more.

How can I improve my AI readiness?

Start with your two weakest areas, not all six. Pick one use case with value attached, fix the data and integrations it needs, put a human approval step in, and measure it against a baseline. One working use case teaches the business more than a strategy deck. For Facetheory, a UK skincare brand, that meant AI agents for weekly channel reporting, customer-service triage and the creator-gifting pipeline, plus a three-hour AI 101 workshop so the team could run them.

Is my data stored?

No. The assessment runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us or stored anywhere, and they are gone when you refresh or leave the page. If you want to talk your result through, you can choose to email it to us.
